The Belkin Thunderstorm Handheld Home Theater is an integrated full-range portable speaker system and dock for the iPad. ZIP worked closely with Audify acoustic experts and electrical engineers to refine the industrial design and develop the mechanical engineering for the product. ZIP also provided manufacturing support during tooling development and pilot production. Thunderstorm won Best of Show at 2013 MacWorld/iWorld.
Buzz b. is a safe and gentle nail trimmer for infants and toddlers with a patented filing action. Lawrence Shubert invented the concept and proved out initial feasibility while at IDEO. ZIP Innovations completed the engineering and manufacturing and partnered with juvenile company Zoli to market and launch the product. The product was won several design and innovation awards in the juvenile industry including Kind+Jugend Innovation Award nominee 2010, BPA BANTA Safety Award 2013, and Befe Award.
iOpener is an iPhone case with an integrated bottle opener. ZIP developed the case for the iPhone 5 with a new sliding mechanism that was backwards compatible with previous version of the product. The sliding bottle opener blade moves easily with a thumb or finger and holds in the open and closed position to optimize ease of use as both a sleek iPhone case and stealthy bottle opener. Cheers...
The UNO Media is the world's first full featured hospitality phone with an integrated alarm clock/radio and iPod/audio dock. ZIP Innovations worked with Studio Back to develop the industrial design of the entire UNO product line. The UNO Media won Best in Show and Best New Technology Product at the 2009 International Hospitality Show in New York.
XTENT's Stent Delivery System comprises a control handle and catheter to place customizable drug-eluting stents for the treatment of coronary artery disease. ZIP Innovations worked with LoewCo to design the catheter control handle to optimize ergonomics, safety and ease of use.

The Cyrano 320 Portable Odor Detector is the first portable hand-held odor detection system for mobile professionals that quickly analyzes and identifies chemical imprints for medical diagnostics, hazardous spill detection and food spoilage. Lawrence Shubert directed the IDEO development team and managed the client relationship. The robust and easy-to-use device won an ID Magazine Design Distinction award.
The Pepsi High-Visibility Vendor incorporates the product visibility of retail cooler into a secure and improved beverage vending machine. Lawrence Shubert led IDEO's team of human-factors specialists, industrial and interaction designers and engineers in conjunction with a vending machine manufacture to create a replacement door for an existing product platform. The design featured life-size select buttons to make it easy for consumers to identify beverages and a central interaction panel to purchase and retrieve the drinks. Security was enhanced through a centralized vault and keyless entry.
This digital camera interface was developed as part of a strategic program to explore the future of digital imaging. Lawrence Shubert led IDEO's team of designers, engineers and innovation strategists to develop a wide range of products and services based on digital imaging technology that leveraged Kodak's brand and core company attributes. This interface was incorporated into Kodak's DC210 digital camera. The interface won a Bronze IDEA and a Hanover iF award.
The Medtronic 5388 Dual Chamber Temporary Pacemaker is a more advanced version of the single chamber product that allows for more sophisticated pacing management and treatments for cardiac patients. Lawrence Shubert led the same IDEO team that developed the single chamber device to create a state-of-the-art clinical medical device with many advanced features that was safe, intuitive and easy to use. The 5348/5388 product family won Medical Design Excellence and Hanover iF awards.

Lawrence Shubert led a team of IDEO human factors specialists, industrial and interaction designers, and engineers to create a high quality medical device that stands up to the rigorous demands of a clinical environment. Safety, ease of use and durability were paramount to the success of the product. The device won Medical Design Excellence and Hanover iF awards.
The UNEX ProSet Telephone Headset was designed to optimize fit, comfort and audio quality for all day use in call-center environments. Lawrence Shubert led IDEO's team of human factors specialists, industrial designer and engineers to develop the industry's first user-customizable headset that could easily be configured to fit over-the-ear or over-the-head on either side of the head. The product was selected to be part of the Mutant Materials in Contemporary Design exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The Kid's Roller Controller was the first computer input device aimed specifically at children. The large roller ball and playful buttons allowed children with a wide range of dexterity to control cursor movement and action on a screen in a fun and engaging manner. Lawrence Shubert led IDEO's team in partnership with Children's Television Workshop to create several experiential prototypes for testing and pre-production design.
